Using LivePreso Advice without an Xplan account
Last updated 28 October, 2024
For the time being, LivePreso Advice is designed to work with Xplan as the sole source of data.
LivePreso fetches data from Xplan when a preso is first created. This means that whoever is logged in at the time must have access to Xplan and, specifically, to the modules from which you want to fetch the data.
So, whilst someone in your practice needs Xplan access to your client data, you don’t necessarily need access to Xplan at all in order for LivePreso Advice to work for you.
For example, if you work with a paraplanner, they need access to Xplan in order to fetch the data and make the preso on your behalf. They can then hand over the preso to you, all without you needing Xplan access.
Creating non-Xplan accounts
It is not currently possible for you to create your own non-Xplan accounts.
However, if you want a non-Xplan account, follow these steps and our team will make one for you:
Make sure you have a spare adviser licence in your practice for the new non-Xplan user. If you don’t, add a new one first, by following the instructions on Managing (buying) licences.
Complete the form for requesting a new non-Xplan user.
Limitations on non-Xplan accounts
While most features work as normal for users with non-Xplan accounts, there are a few exceptions.
Creating presos
You can’t create new presos with a non-Xplan account, as that's when LivePreso needs to talk to Xplan to retrieve your clients' data.
However, you just need a paraplanner or another adviser with a standard Xplan account to create the preso, then hand it over to you. From there you can present and share as normal.
Editing presos
Similar to creating presos, if you click the Edit button on an existing preso, you won't be able to do anything on the next screen you see, as it's essentially the same as creating a preso.
