Requirements for using LivePreso Advice

Xplan

For the time being, LivePreso Advice is designed to work with Xplan as the sole source of data.

If you use an Xplan alternative, feel free to submit an idea suggestion and our team will review and consider adding it to our roadmap.

If you use Xplan’s advice modules but a different CRM system, so long as you still maintain your clients' names and email addresses in Xplan you should still be able to use LivePreso Advice.

Your Xplan site

Your Xplan site needs to be set up to work with LivePreso Advice. It’s a quick and simple process, but it does require the assistance of your Xplan site admin. It only needs to be set up once for everyone on the site.

When you first register to use LivePreso Advice, if you can log in with your Xplan credentials then your site has already been set up.

If not, you will see an error message:

If this happens, let us know and we’ll help your Xplan site admin activate our app and get your site set up.

Your Xplan admin should also review the Xplan setup checklist to make sure everything is configured correctly for best results.

Your Xplan account and access

You log into LivePreso Advice with your Xplan account, so you must have an active account.

LivePreso fetches data from Xplan when a preso is first created. This means that whoever is logged in at the time must have access to the modules from which you want to fetch the data.

This means that you don’t necessarily need access to every Xplan module for LivePreso Advice to work for you.

For example, if you work with a paraplanner, they need access to the relevant modules in order to fetch the data and make the preso on your behalf. They can then hand over the preso to you, all without you needing the same Xplan access.

Not having access to a specific Xplan module doesn’t mean you can’t use LivePreso Advice.

LivePreso Advice content is smart and dynamic. If the data required for an individual slide can’t be found—either because you (or your paraplanner) don’t have access to it, or because it’s just not there for the client—the slide will automatically turn itself off. But other slides will continue to work as usual.

There are also choices you can make based on what access you have and where you store your Xplan data. For example, you can choose whether to fetch data from IPS or WealthSolver.

Xplan client sync

In order for our Xplan-LivePreso sync to include your clients, they must have a valid email address in Xplan. Without one, the sync won’t pick up the client.

Note, in order to be considered valid, you need to enter a proper email address (and nothing else) to the contact field for the client in Xplan, but Xplan also requires you to “label” it as an email address:

If you enter a valid email address but don't label it as an email address, our sync won't pick it up!

Computer equipment

LivePreso Advice runs in an app that you can download and install on any modern Windows or Mac computer.

Note: You will need to have (or have access to someone in IT who has) administrative access to your computer to install the app.
