Estimated capital gains and losses slide

Estimated capital gains and losses slide

Last updated 15 November, 2024

Available to all users with access to the Ready Review deck

Requires Xplan access to either IPS or WealthSolver

Note: If you don’t have access to either Xplan module, but someone else in your practice does (like a paraplanner), they can create the preso with their access, then hand it over to you to present or share with your client.

This is the only slide we can’t completely automate, as the data is not available consistently from Xplan. However, we’ve made it as easy as possible for you. Your clients' relevant investments, accounts and holdings are automatically displayed and all you need to do is input the gains and losses where relevant. When you preview, present or share this slide, any rows with no gains or losses will be omitted.

Subslides

None by default, but a subslide will be created on the fly if you add notes to the slide.

Interactivity

  1. The dropdown at the top filters the view to show the investment recommendations for whichever entity is chosen, or All.

  2. Clicking the entity or account headings in the table expands to list their respective details. Clicking them again collapses them.

  3. You can create actions and notes before, after and even during your meetings:

    actions and notes buttons

Data

The data for this slide comes from Xplan’s IPS or a WealthSolver scenario—whichever you chose when you made the preso.

Filtering

Only line items with a difference between existing_percent and percent are displayed.

Only WealthSolver proposals marked as Acquire are retrieved for the chosen scenario.

Personalisation options

  1. Your practice admin can set your brand colour in HQ. In the screenshot examples above, the light blue used in the slide header and table heading is the brand colour.

  2. Your practice admin can set your practice’s colour palette in PresoManager. In the screenshot example above, the grey-blue strip is one of the colours in the chosen palette. The palette is also used throughout the deck for charts, entities and asset classes.

  3. Your practice admin can set your practice’s default text for the slide’s heading, introductory text and table headings in PresoManager.

Prep mode editability

When you open this slide in prep mode you will have the following editing options for your preso:

  1. You can edit the title of the slide (“Estimated Capital Gains and Losses” by default).

  2. You can edit the slide’s introductory text.

  3. You can set the default filtering for the chart by using the entity dropdown.

  4. You can edit the slide’s table headings (“Investment”, “Estimated Capital Gain” and “Estimated Capital Loss” by default).

  5. You can input the relevant gain or loss amounts:

Note: Any line items left with zeroes in both columns will be omitted from the preso when presented or shared.

Notes on PDF version

The table area scrolls in the interactive slide to accommodate a long list of line items. For the PDF version, the line items are displayed over as many separate pages as are required.
